The Height of Summer Festival celebrates the beauty of summer in the country and the peak of summer produce at the farm. Come to the farm on Saturday, August 27. Arrive between 3 and 5 pm if you’d like a farm tour or simply stroll around on your own. Come at 5pm for a delicious potluck followed by a bonfire. Please bring your own plates and flatware for the potluck – we’ll provide pesto-pasta, roasted garlic, ice water and lemonade. We look forward to seeing you!

Our first Big Woods Farm member event, the Summer Solstice Festival, celebrates the beginning of summer. Come to the farm on Saturday June 25 at 3pm for a little work (if you choose), some fun, and good food. We’ll trellis tomatoes and have farm tours from 3-5pm, then a potluck at 5pm, topped off with strawberry shortcake (provided by the farm and featuring freshly-picked farm strawberries). Please bring your own plates and flatware for the potluck – we’ll provide water and lemonade.

Our yearly Fall Harvest Festival is Saturday, Sept 24 from 3pm till 8 pm (or later, if the music jam heats up!). This is a day full of fun and activity for the whole family. Come to take a wagon ride out to the winter squash field, help harvest the winter squash, pumpkins and gourds, and then partake of one of the best potlucks around.
3 pm – head out to the squash/gourd/pumpkin patch and help bring in the harvest.
5 pm – potluck and campfire. The farm will provide water, apple juice and Big Woods Farm, from-scratch, pumpkin pie.
6 pm (or after the potluck) - music-making and folk dancing. If you have an instrument, bring it along and join in the jam. Our friend Kate will lead any willing dancers in easy-to-learn folk dances.
Things to bring: picnic-ware and a dish to share, clippers and garden gloves for the harvest, an instrument if you would like to jam. For your comfort we recommend wearing long pants and closed-toe shoes.

Sorry – the Spring Planting Day has been cancelled due to too much rain and wet soil. Stay tuned for another event in June, date to be announced.
All members are invited to come see the farm in the beauty of late Spring and help get the u-pick garden growing. Drop in at the farm between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. and help plant, water in, and/or mulch the cutting flowers, cherry tomatoes and basil that you can then pick during a later visit. We’ll have extra plants for you to take home to your own garden too. Bring a hat and gloves and shoes that don’t mind dirt. Lemonade, rhubarb bars and some other garden treats will be provided. This event will be postponed in case of rain, so check the farm website for the day’s weather update.

We’ll be at the CSA Fair Day at the Just Food Coop in Northfield. This is an open house where different farms (CSA and others too) in the area provide information.
