Monday 8/16 Share contents:
Today’s share is a heavy one. The garden is in full swing.
- Melons (Arava – a tropical melon with green flesh)
- Sweet Corn
- New red potatoes
- Eggplant (globe and Asian)
- Greens: Swiss Chard
- Red Cabbage
- Tomatoes – Don’t refrigerate. Leave them on the counter and eat when the fruit has a slight give when squeezed. Today’s varieties include red and yellow hybrids and Black Krim heirlooms
- Cipollini Onions – an Italian variety; use as you would any onion
- Summer Squash
- Cucumber (regular green, Suyo Long, and Lemon — a small rounded yellow cucumber that is sweeter than the normal variety)
- Sweet Green Peppers
- Hot Peppers (Large Jalapenos)
