Last week of produce is Oct 17-20.
Fall is bearing down on us, even though the weather continues to be warm. The blue sky is beautiful too, but the soil is the dryest we have seen it in almost 10 years. We continue to irrigate, though the recharge capacity of our irrigation well is diminishing, almost by the day. Any rain dances would be appreciated about now. For the last two weeks of produce, expect some more root crops (carrots, beets, turnips, radishes), greens, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, winter squash, garlic, onions, and leeks.
The Hoophouse frame is up
After two full days of construction (by all of us non-experts), we have the frame of the house up.
The house is surprisingly tall, requiring some long ladders and scaffolding. Thanks to everyone
who has helped so far. We’ll send out an e-mail for the laying on of the plastic, which should be a
fun event.
